Matt Higginson is an Associate Partner in the New York office of McKinsey & Company. Matt is a core member of the Americas Payments Practice and he specializes in Payments Strategy and Banking Operations and leads the Firm’s knowledge in Blockchain and digital ledgers.
Before joining McKinsey, Matt worked as the National Business Unit Head for forensic testing of illicit drugs and toxicology at the UK’s largest privately-owned forensic science provider, where he managed multiple forensic testing laboratories nationally and gave expert witness testimony at homicide trials at Crown Court.
Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Oxford, a Doctor of Philosophy degree in organic chemistry from the University of Bristol, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oxford, where he graduated top of class with Distinction and was awarded the Dean's Prize for outstanding academic achievement in the 2009-2010 Executive MBA Class.
Matt has published widely in international peer-reviewed journals on topics including geochemistry, oceanography and causes of climate change. In addition he has presented widely on commercial applications of digital currencies and payments.
